EarthDL vs Google Earth Images Downloader (allmapsoft)
Both programs download satellite imagery from Google Earth, including historical imagery, and both run on Windows. They are built for different jobs. Google Earth Images Downloader (GEID) by allmapsoft.com collects tiles for offline maps and can write many raster formats. EarthDL makes one georeferenced image of an area and a ready 3D model of it for SketchUp or Blender.

Choose Google Earth Images Downloader when
- you want to try the program before paying,
- you need an offline map with several zoom levels, to browse in its viewer or to load as MBTiles or GeoPackage,
- you need one of the raster formats that EarthDL does not write, for example TIFF, PDF or KMZ.
Choose EarthDL when
- the image is going into a 3D model: see Google Earth to SketchUp and satellite image in Blender,
- you want to draw the area on the map, as a box or a polygon, and get one image cut exactly to it,
- you want to pick the historical date from a list instead of looking it up first,
- you also need Esri, Bing or your own tile server as a source.
