FAQ PeerRemote
Q1: Is it really free? What is the catch?
Yes. Remote control, unattended access and clipboard sync are free with no time limit, for personal use. The free version shows a small "personal use" label and keeps 3 saved devices. Pro is a one-time payment that removes the label, adds file transfer and multi-monitor, and allows business use. We can afford this because the connection is peer to peer: your screen never flows through our servers.
Q2: How is PeerRemote different from TeamViewer or AnyDesk?
Those charge a monthly or yearly subscription for business use and their free versions interrupt or block sessions when they suspect commercial use. PeerRemote never cuts a session, and Pro is paid once. PeerRemote has fewer enterprise features (no user management, no mass deployment) by design.
Q3: Is it secure?
Every session is encrypted end to end with WebRTC (DTLS-SRTP), the same technology video calls use. The password is checked on the host computer and never sent to our server. Our server only relays the connection handshake (addresses and codecs). When a direct connection is impossible, an encrypted relay forwards the packets without being able to read them. Three wrong passwords lock the connecting device out for 5 minutes.
Q4: Do I need to open ports on my router?
No. PeerRemote finds a path through home routers and most office firewalls by itself (STUN), and falls back to a relay (TURN) when it must.
Q5: Can I control my iPhone from a computer?
No. Apple does not allow apps to control an iPhone or iPad. The iOS app is a viewer: you control your Windows or Mac computer from the phone.
Q6: Can I reach my computer when nobody is there?
Yes. Set a permanent password in the This computer tab and turn on Start at login. The computer has to be on and awake (disable sleep in the power settings).
Q7: What exactly does Pro add?
File transfer in both directions, switching between the monitors of the remote computer, an unlimited address book, no "personal use" label, and a license for commercial use. One payment covers all your devices: sign in with the same account in each app. File transfer works as soon as one of the two sides is Pro.
Q8: Is there a free trial of Pro?
Yes, 14 days, once per account. Create a free binersoft.com account, sign in inside the app (Account tab) and press "Start 14-day free Pro trial". No card is needed and nothing is charged when it ends: the app simply goes back to Free.
Q9: How does the "My devices" list work?
Sign in with the same account on each of your computers and phones. The Connect tab then lists them with an online indicator, and you connect to your own computers without typing a password: both sides prove the same account to each other with a signed license, inside the encrypted connection.
Q10: How do I pay?
With PayPal (USD, PayPal balance or credit/debit card), or with Midtrans (IDR: QRIS, GoPay, ShopeePay, bank virtual account). Go to the Buy page. Pro is unlocked right after the payment: sign in inside the app.
Q11: Are future versions free?
Yes. The app updates itself, and Pro is for lifetime.
Q12: Windows says the file is not commonly downloaded / SmartScreen warning.
The Windows installer is not code-signed yet. Click "More info" and then "Run anyway". The Mac app is signed and notarized by Apple.
Q13: I forgot my password.
Reset it on the forgot password page. A code is sent to your email.
